Assistant Professor of Psychology Point Loma Nazarene University
About Me
I was born in Boston, but grew up in Hong Kong. Speaking both Cantonese and English as native languages, I have always been fascinated by how languages are acquired, especially in early childhood. I attended Middlebury College in Vermont, receiving a BA in Psychology and English & American Literatures. After a brief stint as a daycare teacher and research assistant, I pursued a PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of Chicago, where I worked with Professors Daniel Yurovsky and Susan Goldin-Meadow to explore how young children learn to communicate with others. My passion for teaching and mentoring led me to a position as College Fellow at Harvard University, where I taught undergraduate psychology courses related to language and development. I was also a postdoctoral fellow in the Thomas Lab (PI: Ashley Thomas), researching how infants begin to understand language as a social communicative tool. I then moved to Southern California, where I was Visiting Assistant Professor at Pepperdine University. In Fall 2025, I joined Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego as Assistant Professor of Psychology.
